About
A belt with a life of its own
Starfab is a strategy game in the spirit of the classic browser space games, rethought for phone, tablet and desktop. Time runs on the server: building, flights and battles don’t wait for you to open the game.
Ore from asteroids
Send barges out to the belt’s asteroids. Veins run dry, and the rich fields have to be found before your neighbours find them.
Scouting and fog of war
You see only what your probes have scouted. The stronger your science, the more a report tells: a neighbour’s fleet, buildings, technology.
Fleets and battles
Build a fleet, attack and defend. The server resolves every battle, and you watch the replay round by round.
Alliances
Team up with your neighbours: allies see each other’s capitals and never attack each other. Holding the belt together is easier.
Living rivals
Alongside the players live empires run by the server: they build, scout, mine and fight by the same rules you do.
Planets
Every planet is its own
Anyone can see a planet’s name, type and size. What lies beneath, how much sun it gets and who lives there — only scouting tells.

Free
The game is completely free
Download the client and you’re in the belt within a minute. Progress lives on the server: attach an email in the options and carry on from phone, tablet or desktop.

New systems arrive, the balance moves, and the world may start over with a new season. It’s the best time to come: your feedback decides what the game becomes.

Windows — please note
Your browser and Windows may call the file DANGEROUS or SUSPICIOUS. Don't be alarmed — the file is safe.
Starfab is a new game, and its file is not signed with a paid certificate yet. Chrome, Edge and Windows have never seen it, so they warn about it. To install:
- If the browser blocks the download, open the list of downloads (Ctrl+J), find Starfab and keep it: “Download dangerous file” in Chrome, “Keep anyway” in Edge.
- If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”, click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.

Would rather have an archive? The same game as a .zip
- macOS: on first launch, right-click the app → Open — the build is not notarised by Apple yet.
- Android: allow installing from this source when the phone asks.
